On October 21, 2026, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Farrukh Hamralizoda received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic to the Republic of Tajikistan (with residence in Astana) Mr. Jose de Castro Ataide Amaral on the occasion of presenting the copies of Credentials.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state of bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

The First Deputy Foreign Minister congratulated the Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic on his appointment and wished him success in diplomatic activity in Tajikistan.

On 20 October 2026, on the sidelines of the Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

During the meeting, S. Muhriddin expressed his appreciation to I. Dar for participating in the aforementioned meeting and congratulated Pakistan on assuming the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

The sides also discussed bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan, as well as cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

The interlocutors expressed their readiness to further strengthen bilateral ties, expand economic and trade cooperation, increase bilateral trade turnover, and promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

On October 19, 2026, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, who is visiting Samarkand to participate in the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries and the United States of America within the framework of the C5+1 format.

At the outset of the meeting, Sirojiddin Muhriddin conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, to the President of Uzbekistan.

The meeting focused on key issues related to the further development of Tajik-Uzbek relations, as well as prospects for strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries.

Both sides underscored the importance of consistently expanding bilateral cooperation in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, and other areas of mutual interest.

On 18 October 2026, in Baghdad, Republic of Iraq, the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, headed by Idibek Kalandar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, participated in the 52nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Idibek Kalandar gave a speech at the session, presented Tajikistan’s position on the key issues on the session’s agenda and called on OIC member states to cooperate in the joint implementation of Tajikistan’s international initiatives in the fields of water, the environment, and strengthening peace for future generations.

On October 19, 2026, a regular meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian countries and the US Secretary of State in the 5+1 format was held in Samarkand. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Muhriddin attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues related to strengthening regional cooperation and expanding partnership between the Central Asian countries and the United States were discussed.

The parties also discussed pressing issues of regional security and enhanced coordination of efforts to combat modern threats and challenges. In this context, the importance of continuing the political dialogue and developing multilateral cooperation in the C5+1 format was emphasized.

On 16 October 2026 Mr. Jonibek Hikmat, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations met with Mr. Khallilur Rahman, President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

At the meeting, the sides discussed the further implementation of the mandate of the President of the General Assembly pursuant to resolution A/RES/80/304 on the modalities of the 2028 United Nations Water Conference. Particular attention was devoted to the appointment of two co‑facilitators to lead the intergovernmental consultations on the outcome document, the “Dushanbe Water Framework”, as well as to the convening of a high‑level preparatory meeting for the Conference at United Nations Headquarters in New York in March 2027.

The Permanent Representative also underscored the importance of close cooperation in the preparations for the 2028 UN Water Conference and reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to working closely with the Office of the President of the United Nations General Assembly. The President of the General Assembly, in turn, expressed his readiness to support and facilitate the preparations for the Conference.
